Lease IPv4 addresses

Need IPv4 space for a defined period? Tell us the size, region and term. We find a suitable block and arrange the lease with its holder.

For organisations that need IPv4

Leasing gives you address space under your announcement for the period you need it. It can make sense when the requirement has a defined end date, you are testing a new network or service, capital is better allocated elsewhere, or you need capacity before making a permanent purchase.

Tell us the prefix size, registration region and expected term. We will look for suitable space with a clean history.

For IPv4 holders

If you have address space you are not using, leasing can produce monthly income while you retain the asset. Lease rates run to roughly $0.30 to $0.60 per address per month, depending on block size, registry, reputation and market demand.

Buy or lease: the arithmetic

Take 256 addresses, the size of a /24. Leasing at about $0.45 per address per month costs roughly $1,380 a year, for as long as you need them. Buying at $25.00 – $40.00 per address costs $6,362 – $10,240 once, plus transfer costs.

Need them for six months and leasing is cheaper. Need them for five years and it is not, and at the end you still hold a block you can sell or lease out.

Before selling a large block, it is worth comparing the sale value with the income a lease could generate. See our current IPv4 prices and IPv4 selling pages.

How an IPv4 lease works

The registration remains with the holder. The lessee receives the right to announce the block, together with the authorisation required by its upstream providers. We prepare the Letter of Authorisation and RPKI Route Origin Authorisation for the relevant arrangement.

Need IPv4?

Tell us the block size, registration region, how long you need it and any reputation or geolocation requirements. We will come back with what is available. If a permanent purchase is more appropriate, read about buying IPv4.

Have IPv4 you are not using?

Tell us what you hold. We can compare leasing against a sale and explain the economics of each option.
